Medical Conditions That Can Mimic Child Abuse

With doctors and Child Welfare Services becoming more and more quick to diagnose child abuse without evaluating medical conditions and genetic disorders, parents are being falsely accused of the horrible act of child abuse, and children are being taken away from innocent parents and put through extremely traumatic separations and sometimes even adoptions.

This site is meant to be a resource (not medical advice) for parents who are experiencing such accusations and trauma.

Just a few disorders that can mimic child abuse to the untrained eye:

Ehlers–Danlos syndrome
Von Willebrand disease / Bleeding disorders
Mongolian spots
Henoch-Schönlein purpura
Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP)
Phytophotodermatitis
Hemophilia B.
Cellulitis
Epidermolysis bullosa
Osteogenesis imperfecta

Examples:

Skin lesions and conditions

Fractures/Bone issues
